Rising interest rates over the past year and a half have softened home prices in many of Canada's major cities particularly with the condo markets. In return, we saw single-family home prices increase in many smaller cities. 

On a price-per-square-foot (PSF) basis, detached homes in Downtown Montreal came in as the most expensive place in Canada at $1,235 PSF.   

Conversely, in stark contrast, the most affordable homes are situated in St. John's, where the average price is $167 PSF. 

Locally here in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), the good news for us property owners is that while many housing prices softened, most prices are equivalent to our 2021 benchmark prices which saw considerable appreciation compared to previous years. Click here to view the article containing a more detailed breakdown of housing prices throughout Canada.
